Congratulations to this year’s EDGE Accelerator startup leaders. For their final session, Demo Day, 15 of Frederick’s most promising emerging entrepreneurs took the stage to showcase what they learned and pitch for cash prizes in front of an esteemed panel of judges, including Tien Wong, Anita Gupta, Deborah Hemingway, Urvashi Bhatnagar, Reginald Seeto, Teddy Dresser, Vladimir Popov, and Jaime Hirschfeld. The event was the culmination of an immersive 12-week program designed to prepare founders for taking their business to the next level.

The grand prize, sponsored by Frederick National Lab for Cancer Research and TEDCO, was awarded to Forager Station, Inc’s founder Patrick Ho. The Audience Choice Award, sponsored by The City of Frederick, went to the StrydeLink, a promising student-led company sponsored by NanoBioFAB. The team includes promising young entrepreneurs Shawn Chen, Nicholas Valerio, Charles Bai, Brian Zhu, and Samuel Sun.

Mesa Science Associates Contributes to Study Demonstrating Efficacy of Intranasal Spray at Treating Anaphylaxis.

Kenneth Dretchen, PhD, of Mesa Science Associates, in collaboration with researchers from Bryn Pharma LLC, Celerion Inc., and Allucent, recently published an article in the Journal of Allergy and Clinical Immunology: Global entitled “A 13.2 mg epinephrine intranasal spray demonstrates comparable pharmacokinetics, pharmacodynamics, and safety to a 0.3 mg epinephrine autoinjector.” Read more…

NanoBioFAB nominated for two ICON 2024 Awards

Current FITCI client NanoBioFAB earned a spot in two categories of the The Maryland Tech Council’s (MTC) 2024 awards. MTC, the largest technology and life sciences trade association in the state and a FITCI ecosystem member, announced the finalists for its 2024 ICON Awards, which honor the best in Maryland’s technology and life sciences communities. Winners will be announced on May 23, 2024, at MTC’s Industry Awards Celebration at Bethesda North Marriott Hotel & Conference Center. 

NanoBioFAB is nominated as Emerging Technology Company of the Year and NanoBioFAB Founder & CEO, Dr. Xiaonao Liu is nominated in the CEO Technology category. Read more…

FITCI & Living Well Youth Works Partner to Empower Youth Entrepreneurship & Career Exposure

 Frederick Innovative Technology Center, Inc. (FITCI) and fellow nonprofit Living Well Youth Works proudly announce a strategic partnership to open new doors for school-aged children by putting them in front of life-enriching opportunities and experiences, such as building essential life and career skills, mining internship prospects, and connecting to higher education resources.

The partnership’s key elements will include an entrepreneurship competition, college and career fairs, and other special events. The incubator/accelerator will also collaborate in connecting teens to life science and biotechnology internships, including its own graduate companies and 70-plus current startup clients. Living Well Youth Works will maintain a presence at FITCI, supporting a wide range of youth-related initiatives. Read more…

Thin Film Interconnects (TFI), a pioneering technology company, is poised to transform the high-demand semiconductor industry with its innovative manufacturing process.
